Both Mills
(see pictures below) were originally built and owned by Daniel & Charles MacMillan in
the 1800's. They were sold to the late Benjamin Mundell (a
Scottish Immigrant) who bought the properties for $1025 in the late 1800's.
It was in the 1940's when Jim and Bill took over the family business and
added a hardware supplier store starting in a 10' by 12' room. The store
became a Home Hardware Franchise.
Mundell Lumber
boast the last remaining of the water powered mills on the credit river.
With the watergate open an estimated 30hp is created. The belt and
pulley driven machines while running (sometimes taking a little coaxing
to run smoothly) make the four story building vibrate and hum. It is the
buildings large wooden beam structure that holds everything together.
